What are you grateful for today?
Research shows listing 3+ gratitudes improves well-being, sleep, and relationships.
1.
2.
3.
What happened? · Why did it happen? · What was your part in it?
Sending is optional. Writing it is where the effect lives.
Your gratitude entries are saved to your journal and visible in Past Entries.
Quick thought? Drop an InkBlot.
Capture a moment, feeling, or fleeting thought in seconds.
Writing about hard things can stir them up before it settles them. That's normal, and it's part of how this works. Go at your own depth.
15:00
Keep the pen moving. Grammar and sense don't matter here.
The research dose is 3 or 4 sprints on the same topic over a week or two. Save early or write past the timer, both are fine.
0/500 characters
InkBlots are quick journal entries — perfect for busy days.

About the Founder
Adam Grimm’s journey into wellness began during a transformative period in his life, leading to a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force. As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, Adam served in active war zones and led the response team at Daniel K. Inouye (Honolulu) International Airport, developing resilience and leadership skills under intense pressure. Following his medical retirement in 2021, Adam channeled his experiences into advancing mental health and wellness initiatives in Hawai‘i.
Adam earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where he contributed to the CDC-funded Overdose Data to Action (OD2A)-Care Coordination and Capacity Building (C3) Project. His work focused on combating the opioid epidemic across O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, and Moloka‘i by fostering collaboration among law enforcement, educational institutions, and local organizations.
Adam also served as a research assistant for three years, delving into organizational wellness, lived experience, and preventative care within Hawai‘i’s non-profit sector. Now pursuing his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Hawai‘i School of Professional Psychology at Chaminade University, Adam balances his academic pursuits with his role at Hawai‘i Neuropsychology, where he supports patients with diverse mental health needs.
He has begun in-person psychoeducation sessions about wellness and action at the Present Mind Institute Hawaii, in Kaneohe, that you can participate in.
In addition, Adam is the founder of Pegasus Realm, a wellness research and consulting company dedicated to improving well-being through innovative, evidence-based practices. His work focuses on creating holistic wellness strategies for individuals and organizations, blending research, coaching, and a deep understanding of lived experience to enhance quality of life and foster adaptability and equity.

You can save Sophy's reflections with your journal or use them to update your entry to challenge yourself into better thought patterns.

Your journal. Your pace. Your growth.
Reframe: Perspective Practice
Four short steps to look at one moment from a second angle: what happened, what your mind made it mean, the evidence both ways, and another honest read that fits the facts. Drawn from decades of cognitive-behavioral research on how re-appraising a situation changes how it lands. Not forced positivity—just a fair second look.
The WISH Method
A science-backed framework for manifesting what matters.
What is the WISH Method?
WISH is adapted from groundbreaking research by psychologists Gabriele Oettingen (NYU) and Peter Gollwitzer—the science behind Mental Contrasting with Implementation Intentions (MCII). This evidence-based framework has been proven more effective than SMART goals at helping people achieve what truly matters to them.
Unlike traditional goal-setting that focuses only on the positive, WISH helps you dream realistically, anticipate obstacles, and create actionable "if-then" plans.
The Four Steps of WISH
Want
Define a deeply meaningful, specific, and attainable goal. What do you genuinely want to accomplish? Sophy helps you clarify if this is both challenging and realistic.
Imagine
Vividly visualize your best possible outcome. What does success look and feel like? How will your life be better? Sophy guides you to make this vision concrete and motivating.
Snags
Identify the internal and external obstacles that could derail you. What habits, thoughts, or beliefs might get in your way? Sophy helps you recognize patterns that often go unnoticed.
How
Create specific "if-then" action scripts: "If [obstacle] happens, then I will [specific action]." These implementation intentions transform vague hopes into concrete plans. Sophy provides feedback to strengthen your strategies.
Your Personal WISH Coach: Sophy
At each step, Sophy offers directed, research-informed feedback tailored to that specific stage of the WISH framework. She's not just giving generic advice—she's trained to help you properly use the method according to the science.
Timeline Tracker
Set your desired timeline (30, 60, or 90 days) and watch your progress unfold. The gentle tracker isn't a pressure tool—it's a visual companion reminding you of your commitment and showing how far you've come.
Why WISH Works
Mental Contrasting (imagining success + obstacles) primes your brain to recognize opportunities and take action. Implementation Intentions (if-then plans) automate your response to challenges. Together, they create sustainable behavior change rooted in decades of psychological research.
Your vision. Your timeline. Your WISH.

Gain perspective on recurring challenges
Track progress toward your WISH goals
Your history. Your growth. Your story.
The Science of Gratitude
A daily practice that rewires your brain for well-being.
Why Gratitude Works
Decades of research from positive psychology shows that regularly noting what you're grateful for isn't just "thinking happy thoughts"—it physically changes your brain. Studies from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and leading psychology labs have found consistent benefits.
What the Research Shows
Neural Rewiring
Practicing gratitude activates the hypothalamus and dopamine pathways. Over time, your brain becomes better at noticing positive experiences—a phenomenon called "neural plasticity."
Better Sleep
Studies show that writing down three gratitudes before bed helps people fall asleep faster and sleep longer. The mind shifts from rumination to appreciation.
Improved Resilience
People who practice gratitude regularly cope better with stress and adversity. They don't ignore problems—they develop a more balanced perspective.
Stronger Relationships
Expressing appreciation strengthens social bonds. Grateful people report more satisfying relationships and feel more connected to others.
Why Three Gratitudes?
Research by Dr. Robert Emmons found that listing three specific things you're grateful for is the sweet spot: enough to create impact without becoming a chore. Specificity matters: "I'm grateful my friend texted to check on me" works better than "I'm grateful for friends."
Making It Work
Consistency beats intensity. A few minutes each day creates more lasting change than occasional deep dives. That's why we made Gratitude its own quick-entry mode—easy to build into your routine.
Notice. Appreciate. Grow.
Five Practices, One Goal
Gratitude journaling has one known weakness: repetition dulls it. Researchers call it habituation—write the same list every day and the effect fades (Lyubomirsky, Sheldon & Schkade, 2005). That's why InkWell rotates five research-backed practices instead of one:
Three
The classic. Listing three specific gratitudes improves well-being and sleep in controlled studies. (Emmons & McCullough, 2003)
One, Deeply
Writing about one good thing, what happened, why it happened, and your part in it, outperforms longer lists. Depth beats breadth. (Seligman, Steen, Park & Peterson, 2005)
Without It
Mental subtraction: imagining that a good thing had never happened produces a stronger emotional response than simply recalling it. Your mind weighs loss about twice as heavily as gain. This practice puts that to work for you. (Koo, Algoe, Wilson & Gilbert, 2008)
Letter
Writing a gratitude letter to a real person carries the largest measured effect of any positive-psychology exercise. Delivering it is optional. The writing itself does most of the work. (Seligman et al., 2005)
Savor
Capturing one positive moment in full sensory detail trains attention toward the good. Savoring is a skill, and it strengthens with practice. (Bryant & Veroff, 2007)
The coral dot on a practice is the day's suggestion—variety is the mechanism, so InkWell nudges you to rotate. Any practice, any day, always your choice.
InkBlot: Quick Capture
Get it out of your head before it disappears.
The Power of Quick Capture
Not every thought needs a polished journal entry. InkBlot is for those fleeting ideas, sudden realizations, or quick emotional check-ins that deserve to be saved but don't require ceremony.
Why Quick Capture Matters
Reduce Cognitive Load
Psychologist David Allen calls this "closing open loops." When you capture a thought externally, your brain can stop holding onto it—freeing mental space for other things.
Catch Insights
Research shows we forget up to 40% of new information within 20 minutes. Those shower thoughts, midnight realizations, and random connections? Gone unless you capture them quickly.
Process Emotions
Sometimes you just need to name what you're feeling—even if it's just "feeling weird today" or "surprisingly hopeful right now." Brief emotional check-ins create self-awareness over time.
Build Momentum
A 30-second InkBlot entry is infinitely more valuable than the perfect journal entry you never write. Small consistent actions beat sporadic perfection.
How to Use InkBlot
Type or speak whatever's on your mind (up to 500 characters)
Don't overthink it. Messy is fine, incomplete is fine
Save and move on. You can always revisit in Past Entries
Think of InkBlot entries as seeds. Some will grow into bigger reflections later. Others simply needed to be planted and acknowledged.
Think it. Capture it. Free yourself.
Sprint: Write Through It
The other speed of InkBlot. A Sprint is 15 or 20 minutes of continuous writing about something that's weighing on you—the most-studied journaling protocol in psychology (Pennebaker & Beall, 1986; Frattaroli's 2006 meta-analysis covers 146 studies). The rules are simple: keep writing, don't fix grammar, don't stop to judge it.
Two honest notes from the research: writing about hard things can stir them up before it settles them—that's expected, not a sign it's going wrong. And the studied dose is 3 or 4 sprints on the same topic over a week or two, not one marathon.
